The End of a Season…And Some Fun Milestones!

Well, its official…summer is over. We took our last trip of the season to Cedar Point last weekend and, as usual, had a blast. For the first time in…well, ever…I didn’t ride a single roller coaster, other than the Woodstock Express in Camp Snoopy. The lines were long and it was a pretty chilly day, so flying down a roller coaster hill at 70 mph in the freezing cold didn’t sound that appealing to me. Instead, we hung out in all the kiddie areas with Kaitlyn (and our friend Maci was there too!) and let her have one last hoorah before winter. I had hoped that she would be tall enough (46”) to ride the Iron Dragon by now, but she’s about 1.5” too short…next year for sure! We were also able to do all of the haunted walk-throughs and haunted houses. And of course, Kaitlyn LOVED the haunted walk-throughs again! The girl is nuts! LOL. She was talking about going through them all summer long and it was finally time so we put our scary-sucker-teeth in and went looking for monsters to scare. It amazes me that this little girl who is afraid of balloons and loud noises LOVES yelling BOO at scary looking monsters! She is certainly one-of-a-kind! Anyways, we made it to Kings Island twice this summer, once to Carowinds in the Carolina’s and to Cedar Point about 10 times…certainly a fun, busy summer and we’re sad to see it come to an end.

Kaitlyn is doing pretty well in preschool and has made her first friend there. Her name is Addyson and Kaitlyn talks about her a lot! At first, we weren’t sure if Addyson even knew Kaitlyn existed because every time Kaitlyn would say “hi” to her at drop-off, Addyson wouldn’t say anything…turns out Addyson is just super shy. They do play together at school though and we hope to have her over to play sometime soon. Kaitlyn REALLY wants her to come to her birthday party, but upon talking to her mom last week, I found out they aren’t going to be able to make it because they’ll be out of town (darn Thanksgiving birthdays!)…Kaitlyn is going to be bummed! At any rate, we’re gearing up for her Rapunzel/Tangled birthday party…lots to do before then!

BIG milestones achieved around here lately too!! A couple weeks ago Kaitlyn tied her shoes for the first time!! I had showed her the ‘regular’ way to tie several weeks before that and she was getting the hang of it ‘til the very end…then it would fall apart. So then I tried showing her the ‘bunny ears method’ and she got it pretty much right away! She’s not fast at tying them yet, but she can do it…hooray!! Last night we had girls night while Daddy was at volleyball and we were snuggling on the couch together watching Toy Story and I taught her how to snap her fingers! It’s a pretty quiet snap, but she’s doing it! What a big girl! It’s still hard to believe she’ll be 5 years old in 3 weeks!
