As mentioned in my last post, Kaitlyn seems to have outgrown her toddler bed, so we figured it was time to convert it to the full size "big girl" bed. Well, a new full mattress meant we had to buy new sheets and a quilt to fit it...and why not re-paint her room while we were at it too, right?! So all in one day we bought new paint for Kaitlyn's room, bought a new full size mattress for her, moved everything out of her room, painted it, put everything back in her room, washed and put the new bedding on and had Kaitlyn's pictures taken! Whew! Talk about a crazy day! Stressful, yes...but oh so fun! We still have a few finishing touches to add (wall decor, bed skirt, lap, etc) but it looks adorable so far! I will definitely post pictures of the finished product! And will be sure to add some of our professional pictures too, once we get those back from the photographer!
Fall is still keeping us very busy. It seems there is at least one festival to attend every weekend...I love it! Last weekend we went to MacQueen's Orchard to pick apples. We did this last year too and once again, we had a wonderful time. Kaitlyn must have eaten at least 4 WHOLE apples the entire time we were there...she'd pick one and then eat it, then pick another one and eat it too...apparently, the girl LOVES apples! We also met Aunt Marcia and Uncle Bob (from Cleveland) for lunch last weekend. They were in town for an organ convention and were able to meet for a yummy lunch at Bob Evans. It was great seeing them and Kaitlyn "performed" wonderfully when they asked her what color/shape something was, how to spell her name, to count in Spanish, etc. I think they were impressed a little bit...which always makes a Mama proud! ;o)
In other news...my BABY is almost a three year old! Oh my gosh! Only like 6 more weeks or something 'til her birthday. Every year with her goes more quickly than the previous one and while many things are getting easier (communicating & she's becoming more self-sufficient), some things are certainly harder...for example, dealing with tantrums and screaming! Ugh! Who knew someone SO CUTE could act so NOT cute at times?! Wow. You would think that with her language skills we'd be able to reason with her a little bit...heck no! There is often times NO reasoning with her at all. And from what some of my other "mom friends" have been saying...three is EVEN WORSE than two!!!! How is that even possible?! LOL. Last year about 2-3 months before her birthday she seemed to get much more "tantrum-ish" and I remember wondering if the "Terrible Two's" were showing up a few months early...then after 6 months or so, she seemed to settle down a bit. I think that's what's going on now too...the even more "Terrible Three's" are here a little early...darn them!
In more fun Kaitlyn news...she is turning into a little girl right before our eyes. Her new bedroom is in no way a "nursery" anymore...it's a little girls room. Isn't that weird?! She's getting dressed on her own more, putting her shoes on, using 'big girl' toothpaste now...oh yeah, we had to teach her how to spit it out...that was hysterical! Anyways, I'm trying to let her do more things for herself now...I've been so used to doing everything for her the last few years that now I underestimate how much she can do for herself. And even though she's a little slower, she's pretty proud of herself when she does something all by herself! Patience is the name of the game...or perhaps the age!
