Warning: this will be a long post! Wednesday we went to Cedar Point and had an AWESOME time! The crew was Wayne, Lori, Kaitlyn, Justin, Amanda, Gavin, Abby, Wayne's Dad, Ruth, Amanda, Chris and Danielle. We've made it an annual trip since Kaitlyn was born, so this was her third visit, but it was Gavin's first...and boy, did they have fun! They got to ride their first roller coaster together (with their Mommy's), The Woodstock Express, and they loved it. Kaitlyn and I got to sit in the front seat, which was pretty cool because my first coaster ride was the in front seat with my Dad too. Then it was the Dad's turn to take them on Jr. Gemini, which was equally as fun. They also got to ride a train, Flying Kite ride (like Froghopper), Eh Eh Cars, Bumper Boats, Hot Air Balloon ride and lots of other rides. We even went on the Bumper Cars for the very first time...this was good for the most part until Kaitlyn and I were part of an 8 car pile up...that scared Kaitlyn a little and she started crying. So, we stayed down at the 'not so busy' end for the remainder of the ride! The grown ups even got to ride some big roller coasters too, which is always a blast! The day was so enjoyable, mostly because the kids were REALLY good! We escaped with no major meltdowns and minimum tantrums...for two year olds, I'd say that's pretty darn good! All in all, a very fun trip and I look forward to continuing our yearly tradition!
Last night Kaitlyn also got to experience her first "real" fireworks. I say "real" because she saw some fireworks a couple weeks ago, but it was a very small display and it was still light outside...so we can't count that as "real" fireworks! Last night we went to the Maumee/Perrysburg 4th of July Fireworks and they were spectacular! Kaitlyn was very anxious waiting for them to begin and once they started she loved it! At first she'd count how many were in the sky at the same time "Oooh, that's three fireworks in the sky!" Then she'd tell us if they were big or little fireworks. And she loved to tell us the color of them...the purple were by far her favorite and she'd get super excited whenever she saw purple ones! The funniest part was that she'd stand up with her arms out in front of her (like she was going to hug someone) and say "Hold me fireworks, hold me!" and she'd say "Touch those fireworks way up in the sky!" It was so fun seeing fireworks through a two year olds eyes...they were amazing to her, which made them amazing to me. Definitely a very fun night!
Saturday was also Wayne's Dad's 70th birthday so we through him a party at our house. All but one of Wayne's brothers and sisters were able to join us and he had a great time. Kaitlyn was happy to entertain everyone and at one point she had us laughing so hard we were crying! We had a big tent up (for shade) and she kept holding onto one of the poles and spinning around it...so we laughed at her...which made her keep doing it. Then she'd wrap her leg around the pole and put her head back and toss is around. Oh my word, it was hysterical! Then she'd clap and laugh with us and go back to her little "pole dance"...too funny!
So, that's the jist of it! What a fun week! Lots of pictures to come on Shutterfly...once I get some time...lots up on Facebook already though! Happy 4th of July!
