Ms. Busy Body

Kaitlyn has been a very busy girl lately...getting into the bottom of closets, climbing on benches to reach light switches (and of course, turning them on and off a zillion times), unrolling toilet paper rolls, reaching things she shouldn't have from our counter tops...she is hard to keep up with! I feel like the "No Police" now...I must be saying it more to her because she is saying it back to me more often now too. Yesterday I tried to put a bow in her hair for church and she told me "no no"...darn it, she's never going to give in to wearing a bow! On the up side, she did learn to say "church" this weekend...we didn't even teach her, she just heard me say "What time are we going to church?" and then she kept repeating "church church church" until we acknowledged her! She's really picking up on what we say now, even if we're not directing it to her. Yesterday our friend Jess stopped over and Kaitlyn heard me say her name so she repeated "Jess"...then I said bye when she left and as naturally as she could, Kaitlyn says "Bye bye Jess"...it was so funny because she finally said it in the correct order...in the past it comes out "Daddy Bye bye"...but this time she got it right! Oh and she now recognizes the letter "o" when we're reading too...she points at it and says "o"! Our little genius, ha ha!

She has been so 'busy' though, that pottying has taken a back seat for a week or so...who has time to stop and potty when all this playing and learning is going on?! Over the weekend I was at Target and picked up a package of Elmo (and Zoe, her favorite!) undies...no, we are NOT ready at all to be wearing them yet...but I figured maybe it'd be another way to psych her up about the potty again! So I made these big girl undies sound spectacular and kept reminding her that we'll get to wear them once we pee on the potty all the time. This morning we got them out and talked about them again and then I asked her if she wanted to sit on the potty after breakfast...and voila, she pee'd in the potty again! WOO! So we'll see what happens...this potty training business is quite the adventure!

We had a great weekend! Friday we had a sitter and went to our friends BBQ. Saturday we had a sitter again (wow, 2 nights in a row!) and went out to celebrate our 6th anniversary, which was Sunday. We ate at PF Chang's and then went go-karting and mini-golfing, so that was really fun. Then Sunday was church in the morning, then the Rib Off...but we only stayed an hour because it was so blasted hot! An hour was just enough time to eat a few ribs, show Kaitlyn the animals up for adoption and let her play on the bouncy house thingy. Then we got some ice cream at Cold Stone and headed for home. Yum! We've been enjoying her kiddie pool a lot lately too, since it's so hot! And she discovered that her slide is 10 times more fun with a wet swimming suit on! Ha ha! Here are some pictures!
