Sit back and relax again...it's going to be lengthy! :o) What a busy weekend it was! Friday night Wayne got home from work and thought he had gotten something in his eye because it was red and really bothering him. Well, Saturday morning he could hardly see out of it and it looked awful! Yikes! And he was supposed to be on baby duty that day because I had to work. So, I ended up calling off because he needed to get to a doctor and he couldn't even see to drive really, plus if it was pink eye or something contageous we didn't want him around Kaitlyn! So, we drove around all of creation trying to find someone who could look at his eye on a Saturday! Geeez, you wouldn't believe how hard that was! We started at St. Luke's to go to the Urgent Care center there, but they didn't open 'til like 11am and we were there like at 10am! URGH! The nurse said they wouldn't really be able to do anything anyways...so we drove around looking for eye docs who were open and didn't find any. We ended up at Walmart Optical in Perrysburg, but they didn't have a doc on staff that day so we had to drive over to Walmart on Central Ave! Finally, the doc looked at it and said he had a scratch on his cornea! Ick! So now I have the joy of putting eye drops in his eye...it doesn't bother me at all, but Wayne hates it and he thinks I get some kind of pleasure out of putting the drops in! Ha ha!
Then it was off to Dayton for our family Christmas party with my Mom's side of the family. That was an interesting drive...pretty slick...we must have passed 10-12 cars in ditches on the way there! But we made it safely! Phew! Kaitlyn was turning into a monster the last half hour, so I promptly handed her off to Grandma Maloch once we got there! He he! The food was good and it was nice to see everyone again...we don't get to see them very often and this was the first time most of them had seen Kaitlyn! She had a good time walking around a lot holding onto either my or Daddy's finger! She was really getting into walking up and down all the rows of tables! And all the little cousins would swarm her like a pack of bee's whenever she'd get close to where they were playing! It was really cute, but silly me forgot to get the camera out! DOH! After we left my Mom's on Sunday we met 2 of my friends that I played volleyball with in college at an Italian place down there...we had a nice, but quick visit and then we were back in the car headed home. It was way too fast of a trip, but at least Grandma got a quick baby fix! He he!
Monday morning I got to relax with Kaitlyn, which was nice. We went to the library to get some new books and then to her 1 year well check at the pediatrician. The doc said she's doing great. She said she'll be walking pretty soon and turning door knobs and climbing stairs and I said she's been doing that for months now! He he! She was glad she was talking a bit too! She now weighs 20 pounds 8 ounces and is 30 1/4 inches long! Even the doc said she's tall and lean...it looks like we're on our way to raising an Ohio State volleyball player! :o)
Time for a walking update! He he! She's getting a little more interested in walking now! She'll walk with one of us just holding onto a finger now. Last night I had her walking to Elmo on her own again...she'll go like 4-6 or maybe even 8 steps on her own!! I'll put my fingertips on her back so she just feels them back there and off she goes...it's not helping her much, but man, as soon as she's out of my reach and she doesn't feel my fingers on her back anymore she freaks and is like "Eeek!" and then dives for the couch or the floor! Ha ha! We even got a few steps on video, which is a task in itself! I'll post those later 'cuz I'm at work now! Anyways...she's also been doing some other cute things lately...she's getting really good at giving kisses to more people now! It's so sweet. And she's getting good and getting on and off her bouncy zebra toy and gets off the sofa pretty well now...and ohmygosh, can she maneuver the stairs! She's been going up a while, but she can come down pretty quickly now too! It's kind of funny because she had to learn to crawl backwards to get down the stairs so sometimes she'll crawl backwards around the house too...silly girl! And sometimes she'll get going too fast down the stairs that she's doing more of a 'slide' on her belly down instead of crawling! Ha ha!
